The most frequently discussed topic at the coffee table is……………….. the weather, so a blog about the weather couldn’t be missing.
After a rainy winter and some days of sun it was finally there: spring. Not only meteorologically but now also astronomically. [Hope the next info inspires you to give your next weather conversation a bit more depth, or at least it makes the blog a bit longer.] The meteorologically start of spring was already some days ago, as this is set on the 1st of March (and ends on the 31st of May). The starts of the meteorological seasons are every year on the same date in contrast to the astronomical spring. The astronomical spring starts on the date (this year on the 20th of March) that the night and day are nearly equal as at that day the sun is perpendicular to the equator, also called the spring equinox. After the start of spring, the days will become longer and longer till we reach the summer solstice (summer starts on the longest day of the year), followed by the autumn equinox and winter solstice.
So a happy spring and some flowers for everyone!
