PhD students probably know their weaknesses, or at least they should know… maybe after one year of work.
One of my weaknesses in the beginning of this work was, without any doubt, coding.
Creating stimuli was OK. Making the design on paper, was OK.
Coding it… It was not OK.
So, there was only one option. Learn how to do it!
After a few months, stimuli is ready to go and experiments are all… almost ready. One of my problems recently was to insert a tiny feature within my stimuli. A new stimuli before the stimuli I want to show the fingerprint examiners and lay-people who will perform my experiments.
It seemed something that would be solved in 5 minutes.
After some tutorials and some thoughts about how to re-structure my experiment, I found it.
And, interestingly when coding works, either you like to code or you hate it, you will feel like this:
It is important to be aware of:
Notice your weaknesses;
Know how to overcome those weaknesses;
Know how to celebrate overcoming obstacles!! 😀
See ya later.
Need to sleep!
